Thermo Compliance is a division of Thermo Group that specialises in Electrical, Plumbing, Gas, Beetle, Electric Fence & Solar Certificates of Compliance (COC) for Kenridge and the surrounding areas. We issue Cape compliance certificates for electrical, plumbing, gas, electric fence, beetle and solar inspections.
Kenridge is a suburb of freestanding family homes on the southern edge of Durbanville, where renovation is as common as resale. Thermo Compliance, a division of Thermo Group, issues the Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) for Kenridge houses and flats, with plumbing, gas, electric fence and beetle certificates where required. Our qualified, insured electricians inspect, explain any defects and quote for repairs. There is no call-out fee when you ask for a quote.
Why Kenridge Owners, Buyers & Landlords Need Us
Electrical COC
Full DB board, earthing, wiring and earth-leakage inspection for sales, rentals and insurance.
Plumbing (Water) COC
Pipework, fittings and water installation compliance for property transfers.
Gas COC
LPG installation safety inspection for gas appliances, piping and cylinder storage.
Electric Fence COC
Perimeter electric fence and energiser compliance for security installations.
Renovators, Buyers And Landlords In A Settled Suburb
Kenridge sits in the northern suburbs between Tyger Valley and the Durbanville hills, made up of three small neighbourhoods of mostly freestanding houses with a scattering of apartments. Local agents describe it as peaceful and family-oriented, and recent commentary notes that renovating older homes is increasingly popular with buyers. That matters for certificates, because a renovation often adds circuits, moves walls and changes the load on a board that was installed long ago.
When a Kenridge property is sold, the Electrical Certificate of Compliance is a legal requirement and the conveyancer will ask for it. Buyers planning to renovate frequently ask for the certificate up front as well, because a failed inspection can give them leverage in negotiations. Rental agents and landlords commonly require a valid certificate before a tenant moves in, and insurers often ask for one if a claim relates to electrical damage.
With schools, shopping at Tyger Valley and Willowbridge, parks and sports clubs close by, demand from families remains steady, so houses change hands or are let regularly. A certificate on file saves time every time that happens.
Inspecting Houses That Have Been Altered Over The Years
The typical Kenridge house has had several owners and several rounds of work. A garage becomes a study, a patio is closed in, a pool is dug and a granny flat is added. Every one of those changes can introduce wiring that was never inspected. Our electricians check the whole installation, not just the board, and typical points of concern include:
- Circuits added by previous owners without protection suited to the load.
- Roof-space wiring that has been disturbed during a renovation, with loose joints or unsupported cable.
- Missing or non-functioning earth leakage protection at the board.
- Damaged outdoor sockets, pool equipment wiring and garden lighting.
- Old geyser connections and isolators.
Where apartments or townhouses are involved, owners need a certificate for the unit, while common areas are the responsibility of the body corporate. If a property has gas appliances, a gas certificate is separate, and the plumbing certificate covers things such as the geyser and the visible water installation. An electric fence has its own certificate as well. We can arrange these together when you tell us what the property includes.
If you are buying a house that needs work, you can ask us for an inspection ahead of or during the transfer process to understand likely costs. We can provide a written quote for any defects, which helps you budget the renovation properly.
Booking Your Certificate Without The Hassle
Call 021 203 5337 and say what the certificate is for: a sale, a purchase, a rental or an insurer. Mention gas, a fence, a flatlet or a pool. We arrange a time and send a qualified electrician to inspect the board, circuits, earthing and protection devices. The power usually has to be switched off briefly, so let anyone at home know beforehand.
If everything passes, we issue the certificate. If there are defects, we send a written quote for repairs, free and with no obligation. Many Kenridge repairs are modest, such as replacing a damaged socket or fitting earth leakage, but if an old board needs replacing, we will explain why and what it involves.
Sellers should aim to book before the property goes on the market. That way, repairs are complete and the certificate is available as soon as there is an offer. Landlords and agents who look after several Kenridge units can ask about scheduling inspections together, so that tenants are disturbed once and the paperwork stays tidy.
Thermo Group also does the electrical repairs, from rewiring and DB board upgrades to earth leakage and surge protection, which means one visit from inspection through to certificate in most cases.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Service from Thermo Group! I had a wonderful experience with Thermo Group when I needed electrical issues fixed at my home. From the very beginning, the service was excellent. Nikita, the office administrator who assisted me with booking the job, was incredibly helpful, friendly and professional. She made the booking process smooth and effortless. Warwick, the technician who attended to the electrical issues, was equally impressive. He was professional, knowledgeable and efficient, and I truly appreciated the service he provided. It's refreshing to deal with a company that values its customers and delivers such great service from the office right through to the technical team. Thermo Group delivered exceptional service from start to finish. From my first contact with Nikita who listened to me & responded urgently, to the electricians Alfred and Phato who arrived promptly, quickly found the problem and returned over the weekend to make repairs at short notice and even waited without complaint for 2 hours for the municipal contractor, to Warwick who was available around the clock and went above and beyond to check in with me and to get the City to restore my power after it simply closed my case after 6 hours. The team’s professionalism, clear communication and follow-through, genuine care and support are rare. I highly recommend Thema Group.Posted on Google![]()

On 24 September 2026 Russel and his team (Ebrahim, Michael and Alfred) visited us and went through the various areas of their expertise. We found them to be very pleasant and knowledgeable in their respective fields. It was a real pleasure having them carry out the COC.
I am renovating my Kenridge house. When should I get a certificate?
Have the installation inspected before the renovation to understand the baseline, and have it certified after the work is complete. This avoids surprises and ensures new circuits are tested and documented.
Do buyers in Kenridge ask for a COC before making an offer?
Many do, especially those planning renovations. The certificate is legally required on transfer anyway, so providing it early reduces negotiation friction and avoids delays at the conveyancer.
My house has a granny flat. Is it included?
Yes. Any structure supplied from the main installation is inspected, including granny flats, garages and workshops. Tell us about them when booking so that we allow enough time and check each supply.
What does a landlord need for a Kenridge rental?
Agents and landlords commonly require a current Electrical Certificate of Compliance before the tenant moves in, and insurers often ask for it too. We can also issue plumbing and gas certificates when applicable.
Are apartments in a complex handled differently?
The unit certificate covers your own installation. The body corporate handles shared circuits. Speak to your managing agent about their requirements, and we can coordinate the visit with theirs where needed.
Can you give me a quote for the defects before I decide?
Yes. After the inspection we send a written quote for any repairs. It is free, comes with no call-out fee and no obligation, so you can compare it or ask us to proceed.
Will my installation fail because it is old?
Age alone does not cause a fail. Safety does. Old boards without earth leakage, damaged cabling or unsafe extensions are the real reasons, and we will show you exactly what needs correcting.
Can you also check the electric fence on my property?
Yes. An electric fence needs its own certificate. We can inspect the energiser, earthing and fence wiring during the same visit and tell you whether anything needs repair first.
