Thermo Compliance is a division of Thermo Group that specialises in Electrical, Plumbing, Gas, Beetle, Electric Fence & Solar Certificates of Compliance (COC) for Eversdal and the surrounding areas. We issue Cape compliance certificates for electrical, plumbing, gas, electric fence, beetle and solar inspections.
Eversdal homeowners usually need a certificate for one of two reasons: a sale, often by a family moving on, or a rental let to a family moving in for the schools. Thermo Compliance, a division of Thermo Group, issues the Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) here, along with plumbing, gas, electric fence and beetle certificates where required. Our qualified, insured electricians inspect, quote for repairs and issue the paperwork. There is no call-out fee when you ask for a quote.
Why Eversdal Sellers & Landlords Need Us
Electrical COC
Full DB board, earthing, wiring and earth-leakage inspection for sales, rentals and insurance.
Plumbing (Water) COC
Pipework, fittings and water installation compliance for property transfers.
Gas COC
LPG installation safety inspection for gas appliances, piping and cylinder storage.
Electric Fence COC
Perimeter electric fence and energiser compliance for security installations.
A Leafy Suburb Where Properties Change Hands For Good Reasons
Eversdal lies in the Durbanville area of Cape Town’s northern suburbs, next to Kenridge, Stellenberg and Rosendal and close to the N1. Its roots go back to the late 1600s, when a farmer named Evert leased the land from the Dutch East India Company, and the suburb grew steadily in the decades after the early twentieth century. Local estate agents often describe Eversdal as known for large plots and attractive surroundings, with a community split between younger families moving into the school catchment and older owners looking to scale down.
That mix produces a steady flow of both sales and rentals. When a long-term owner sells a house they have lived in for decades, the Electrical Certificate of Compliance is a legal requirement for the transfer, and the conveyancer will want it early. When a family buys or rents for the primary school and nearby high schools, landlords and rental agents commonly want a current certificate before the new tenants move in.
Because plots here are often generous, many properties have more than one building on them. A main house, a flatlet, a double garage with a workshop or a converted outbuilding can all form part of the installation that needs to be inspected, and any one of them can hold up a certificate if it has been wired informally.
What Inspectors Tend To Find On Larger, Established Properties
Houses that have been lived in for decades often accumulate changes. A kitchen is modernised, a bedroom becomes a study, a pool is added, and a flatlet goes in at the back for a parent or a tenant. Each change adds circuits, and not every one was done with a certificate at the time. When we inspect, common points of concern include:
- Flatlet or outbuilding supplies run off the main house without proper protection.
- Original boards that lack earth leakage devices or have been patched with mismatched breakers.
- Pool pump, borehole and garden lighting circuits that are not weatherproof or lack earth leakage cover.
- Geyser wiring and isolators that have aged or overheated.
- Gate motors and electric fences connected without the correct isolation.
Where a property has a gas stove, heater or braai installation, a separate gas certificate is needed, and a plumbing certificate covers the geyser installation and water supply. If there is an electric fence, it needs its own certificate too. As the same team can issue each of these, you can ask for them in a single visit when it suits the timing of your sale or lease.
Because older owners selling a home they have kept for many years can find the process unfamiliar, we take time to explain what each item on the report means and which defects must be fixed before a certificate can be issued and which are recommendations.
How To Book And What To Expect
Call 021 203 5337, tell us whether the certificate is for a sale, a new tenancy or an insurance request, and mention any outbuildings, a gate, an electric fence or gas. That lets us estimate the time needed and book the correct inspections. A qualified electrician will then visit to test the distribution board, the circuits, the earthing and the protective devices, and to check the wiring that can be seen.
If the installation passes, you get the certificate. If it does not, we give you a plain explanation of what failed, along with a written quote for repairs. There is no call-out fee and you are under no obligation to use us for the work. If you do, we can usually carry out the repairs and complete the certificate without you needing to coordinate another contractor.
If you are selling, we suggest booking before the house is marketed. A buyer’s offer often comes with a deadline for the certificate, and repairs take more time than most owners expect. Landlords who let to families through an agent can also ask about arranging a certificate between tenancies, when the house is empty and access is easy.
Whatever the reason, we aim to leave you with a clear certificate, a tidy board and an honest understanding of what, if anything, to budget for next.

Thermo Group delivered exceptional service from start to finish. From my first contact with Nikita who listened to me & responded urgently, to the electricians Alfred and Phato who arrived promptly, quickly found the problem and returned over the weekend to make repairs at short notice and even waited without complaint for 2 hours for the municipal contractor, to Warwick who was available around the clock and went above and beyond to check in with me and to get the City to restore my power after it simply closed my case after 6 hours. The team’s professionalism, clear communication and follow-through, genuine care and support are rare. I highly recommend Thema Group.Posted on Google![]()

On 24 September 2026 Russel and his team (Ebrahim, Michael and Alfred) visited us and went through the various areas of their expertise. We found them to be very pleasant and knowledgeable in their respective fields. It was a real pleasure having them carry out the COC.
I am selling my family home in Eversdal. When should I book the COC?
Book before you list the house. An Electrical Certificate of Compliance is legally required for the sale, and repairs can take longer than expected. Having the certificate ready means an offer to purchase will not stall.
Does the flatlet at the back also need to be inspected?
Yes. Any building supplied from the main installation forms part of what is inspected, including flatlets, garages and workshops. Tell us about every outbuilding when you book so we allow enough time.
We are renting out our house to a family. Is a certificate necessary?
Landlords and agents commonly insist on a valid certificate before a new tenant moves in, and insurers often ask for one. It also protects you if an electrical fault is ever disputed.
What if my installation fails the inspection?
We explain what failed, what each fix involves and give a written quote. You are not obliged to use us for repairs, but if you do, we can complete them and issue the certificate.
How do I know which defects are compulsory to fix?
We separate defects that prevent a certificate from items we merely recommend. Ask the electrician to walk you through the report so you understand what must be done before the sale or lease proceeds.
Can one visit cover electrical, plumbing and gas certificates?
Often, yes. Thermo Compliance issues electrical, plumbing, gas, electric fence and beetle certificates. Tell us what the property has so we can schedule the right inspections together.
Is a pool pump or borehole circuit part of the inspection?
Yes. Pool pumps, borehole pumps and garden lighting are checked for correct protection and weatherproofing. Faulty outdoor circuits are a common reason a certificate cannot be issued first time.
Do you charge for coming out to quote?
No. The There is no call-out fee and no obligation when you ask for a quote. You pay for the certificate and any repairs you choose to have done after you have read the quote.
