What We Design Around In Welgemoed
Newer, Larger Homes
Welgemoed’s newer homes typically have bigger roof areas and higher electricity usage than an average suburban household. We size systems to genuinely offset that usage, not a generic residential default.
Security Estate Approvals
A number of Welgemoed properties fall under estate body corporate or HOA rules for rooftop installations. We help you navigate approvals so the project runs smoothly.
Higher Household Loads
Bigger Welgemoed homes often run more appliances, pools and air conditioning than average, so backup sizing needs a genuine usage assessment rather than a standard estimate.
Why A Welgemoed Solar Installation Is Not A Generic Cape Town Job
Welgemoed is an affluent Northern Suburbs neighbourhood close to Tyger Valley, known for newer, larger homes with bigger roof areas and a number of security estates. That combination of bigger properties and higher household usage makes for an installation profile all its own. We do not quote a Welgemoed installation off a standard template — our site visit accounts for actual usage and estate requirements before we design a system.
Sizing For Higher Household Usage
Welgemoed’s larger homes often draw more power than an average Cape Town household. We assess your actual usage rather than applying a generic residential default, so the system genuinely covers what you use.

We Don't Just Install — We Maintain
At Thermo Group, our relationship with our Welgemoed clients does not end when the solar installation is complete.
We offer ongoing maintenance and servicing for Welgemoed solar systems, helping ensure equipment keeps operating safely and efficiently on the suburb’s larger, higher-usage properties. Our team can assist with inspections, fault finding, inverter issues, battery systems, electrical connections and general system maintenance.
Regular maintenance can also help identify potential problems before they become expensive failures.
SSEG & City of Cape Town Registration
Installing a solar system is only part of the process. Where required, your system must also be properly documented and registered with the City of Cape Town.
Thermo Group can assist clients with the SSEG application and registration process, helping ensure that the required documentation, electrical compliance requirements and system information are correctly dealt with.
Our goal is to make the process as straightforward as possible for the property owner.

Fill in your details below and our team will contact you to discuss your solar installation or maintenance needs in Welgemoed.
How much does solar installation cost in Welgemoed?
It depends on your household’s usage and system size — Welgemoed’s larger homes often need bigger systems than a standard suburban household. We assess your usage and roof before quoting, so you get an accurate price rather than a generic estimate.
How long does a solar installation take in Welgemoed?
Most residential installations take 1 to 3 days on site, depending on system size and roof complexity, plus the time needed for approvals. We will give you a clear timeline once we have assessed your property.
I live in a security estate — do you handle the approval process?
Yes. Many Welgemoed properties fall under an estate’s body corporate or HOA rules for rooftop installations. We help prepare what is needed for approval as part of the project.
Will solar keep my home running during load shedding?
Yes. A correctly installed and configured solar and battery system will keep your essential circuits running during load shedding, and we handle the City of Cape Town’s SSEG registration and Notice of Completion as part of every installation.
Do you also handle compliance certificates and ongoing maintenance for the system?
Yes. We issue the Solar Certificate of Compliance your installation needs, and we offer ongoing maintenance and fault-finding to keep it performing well for years — whether we installed it or another company did.
