1. About these terms
These terms apply when you ask Thermo Group (Pty) Ltd (“Thermo”, “we”, “us”) for a solar quote through our website, by phone or by WhatsApp. They explain what the request does and does not commit either of us to.
2. Your request is not a contract
Sending a quote request does not create a contract and does not oblige you to buy. It asks us to contact you and arrange a site assessment.
3. No price is quoted online
We do not publish prices or quote a price from the information on the website form. Any system size or battery size shown on screen is an indication only, based on the answers you gave. The system design and the price are confirmed after a site assessment.
4. Site assessment
The site assessment is free. We will arrange a time with you. We may need access to the roof, the distribution board and the proposed position for the inverter and battery. We may decline to quote where a safe or compliant installation is not possible, and we will explain why.
5. Written quote
After the site assessment we send a written quote. The quote states the equipment, system size, what is included and excluded, the price including VAT, how long the price is valid, and the payment terms. Only the written quote, once accepted by you, forms the basis of an agreement.
6. Payment options
When you choose cash or monthly instalments on the form, this is a preference only and helps us come prepared. Whether monthly payment is available, and on what terms, depends on the finance route and on credit approval, and is explained in your written quote. Deposits, payment stages and cancellation terms are set out in the written quote.
7. Estimates and expected savings
Any figures about savings, backup time or system output are estimates. They depend on your electricity use, tariffs, the weather, the position of your roof and how the system is used, and they will vary.
8. City of Cape Town registration
If your electricity account is with the City of Cape Town, a solar system connected to your wiring must be registered with the City before it is switched on. We explain the requirements and take you through the process. Other municipalities and estates may have their own rules, and body corporate or estate approval may also be needed.
9. Warranties
Equipment is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, and workmanship is covered as set out in your written quote. Warranty terms differ by product and are listed in the quote.
10. Privacy (POPIA)
We collect the details you enter (such as your name, phone number, email address, suburb, electricity use and any bill you upload) so that we can contact you, arrange a site assessment and prepare a quote. Your details are seen by Thermo staff who handle quotes, and by the service providers that host our website and send our email. We do not sell your details. We keep them for as long as needed to deal with your request and for our business records, and you may ask us to correct or delete them. To do so, or to ask a privacy question, email info@thermoelec.co.za.
