What We Design Around In Mouille Point
Highest Coastal Wind & Salt Exposure
Mouille Point sits directly on the Atlantic promenade, seeing some of the strongest onshore wind and salt spray anywhere in Cape Town. We specify marine-grade, corrosion-resistant hardware accordingly.
Sectional Title Apartment Blocks
Most Mouille Point properties are apartments with body corporate structures. We help prepare what is needed for approval and design around shared, often limited, roof space.
Lighthouse & Promenade Wind Funnel
The open promenade acts as a wind funnel along this stretch of coastline, which affects how we secure panels and route cabling to withstand sustained gusts.
Why A Mouille Point Solar Installation Is Not A Generic Cape Town Job
Mouille Point is a narrow Atlantic seaboard strip built around the lighthouse and promenade, dominated by apartment blocks facing directly onto the ocean. That combination of extreme wind and salt exposure with shared, sectional title roof space makes for an installation profile all its own. We do not quote a Mouille Point installation off a standard template — our site visit accounts for wind loading and body corporate requirements before we design a system.
Building For The Coastal Wind Funnel
The open promenade along Mouille Point channels strong, sustained onshore wind. We secure panels and route cabling specifically to handle wind loading here that a sheltered suburb would never need to plan for.

We Don't Just Install — We Maintain
At Thermo Group, our relationship with our Mouille Point clients does not end when the solar installation is complete.
We offer ongoing maintenance and servicing for Mouille Point solar systems, helping ensure equipment keeps operating safely and efficiently despite some of the strongest wind and salt-spray exposure in the city. Our team can assist with inspections, fault finding, inverter issues, battery systems, electrical connections and general system maintenance.
Regular maintenance can also help identify potential problems before they become expensive failures.
SSEG & City of Cape Town Registration
Installing a solar system is only part of the process. Where required, your system must also be properly documented and registered with the City of Cape Town.
Thermo Group can assist clients with the SSEG application and registration process, helping ensure that the required documentation, electrical compliance requirements and system information are correctly dealt with.
Our goal is to make the process as straightforward as possible for the property owner.

Book Your Mouille Point Solar Installation
Fill in your details below and our team will contact you to discuss your solar installation or maintenance needs in Mouille Point.
How much does solar installation cost in Mouille Point?
It depends on your property’s usage, system size and roof space — apartment installations can differ significantly from a standard freestanding home. We assess your usage and roof before quoting, so you get an accurate price rather than a generic estimate.
How long does a solar installation take in Mouille Point?
Most residential installations take 1 to 3 days on site once body corporate approval is in place, depending on system size and wind-loading requirements. We will give you a clear timeline once we have assessed your property.
Will strong coastal wind damage my solar panels?
Not if they are mounted and secured correctly. We design specifically for Mouille Point’s wind exposure, using fixings rated for sustained coastal gusts.
I live in a sectional title apartment — can I still install solar?
In many cases, yes, though it typically requires body corporate approval first. We help prepare what is needed and design around the shared roof space available.
Do you also handle compliance certificates and ongoing maintenance for the system?
Yes. We issue the Solar Certificate of Compliance your installation needs, and we offer ongoing maintenance and fault-finding to keep it performing well for years — whether we installed it or another company did.
