What We Design Around In Plattekloof

💨

Elevated Ridge, Higher Wind Exposure

Plattekloof’s elevation gives it stronger, more consistent wind than lower-lying suburbs. We specify mounting hardware rated for that additional wind loading.

🏠

Larger Modern Roof Areas

Plattekloof’s newer, upmarket homes typically have bigger, more open roof areas than older suburbs. We design layouts that make full use of that available space.

🌅

Panoramic View Properties

Many Plattekloof homes are designed around their views. We work with your roof’s actual orientation to maximise generation without compromising the property’s outlook.

Why A Plattekloof Solar Installation Is Not A Generic Cape Town Job

Plattekloof is an elevated Northern Suburbs ridge known for panoramic views, upmarket newer homes and larger roof areas well suited to solar. That combination of elevation-driven wind exposure and bigger modern roofs makes for an installation profile all its own. We do not quote a Plattekloof installation off a standard template — our site visit accounts for wind loading and roof scale before we design a system.

Designing For A Windier Ridge

Plattekloof’s elevated position means it experiences stronger, more consistent wind than lower-lying suburbs nearby. We specify mounting hardware and fixings rated for that additional wind loading as standard.

We Don't Just Install — We Maintain

At Thermo Group, our relationship with our Plattekloof clients does not end when the solar installation is complete.

We offer ongoing maintenance and servicing for Plattekloof solar systems, helping ensure equipment keeps operating safely and efficiently despite the ridge’s stronger wind exposure. Our team can assist with inspections, fault finding, inverter issues, battery systems, electrical connections and general system maintenance.

Regular maintenance can also help identify potential problems before they become expensive failures.

SSEG & City of Cape Town Registration

Installing a solar system is only part of the process. Where required, your system must also be properly documented and registered with the City of Cape Town.

Thermo Group can assist clients with the SSEG application and registration process, helping ensure that the required documentation, electrical compliance requirements and system information are correctly dealt with.

Our goal is to make the process as straightforward as possible for the property owner.

Plattekloof Solar Installation FAQs

How much does solar installation cost in Plattekloof?

It depends on your household’s usage and system size — Plattekloof’s larger homes and roof areas can mean bigger systems than a standard suburban home. We assess your usage and roof before quoting, so you get an accurate price rather than a generic estimate.

How long does a solar installation take in Plattekloof?

Most residential installations take 1 to 3 days on site, depending on system size and roof complexity, plus the time needed for approvals. We will give you a clear timeline once we have assessed your property.

Does the wind at Plattekloof’s elevation affect solar installations?

Yes. We specify wind-rated mounting hardware and fixings for Plattekloof installations specifically because of the ridge’s stronger, more consistent wind exposure.

Will solar keep my home running during load shedding?

Yes. A correctly installed and configured solar and battery system will keep your essential circuits running during load shedding, and we handle the City of Cape Town’s SSEG registration and Notice of Completion as part of every installation.

Do you also handle compliance certificates and ongoing maintenance for the system?

Yes. We issue the Solar Certificate of Compliance your installation needs, and we offer ongoing maintenance and fault-finding to keep it performing well for years — whether we installed it or another company did.

Alfred made the effort to keep us in the loop at all times and went above and beyond to resolve issues. The team were considerate of us working from home but still very quick and efficient.
