Solar Maintenance & Fault Finding Century City & Milnerton
Century City and Milnerton sit side by side on Cape Town’s northern doorstep, but they run two very different kinds of solar system. Century City’s canal-side office parks and commercial buildings need fast, low-disruption fault-finding that keeps a business running. Milnerton’s older coastal homes, many dating back to the early 1900s, need systems checked for the wind and salt-air damage this stretch of Table Bay is known for. Thermo Group maintains and repairs solar installations in both — for the commercial landlord in a Century City business park and the homeowner two streets back from Milnerton Lagoon.
We service systems we installed and systems we did not. If your solar was fitted by another company and is underperforming, tripping, or simply not doing what you were promised, our technicians will inspect it, fault-find it, and get it working properly — or tell you honestly what needs replacing.

Solar Maintenance In Century City’s Business Parks
Century City is one of Cape Town’s most recognisable business addresses — a master-planned precinct of canal-side office parks, corporate buildings and retail space built around the N1, roughly ten minutes from the CBD. Many of the buildings here were designed with rooftop or carport-mounted solar in mind: flat commercial roofs, generous parking structures, and inverter rooms tucked into service corridors rather than garages. We maintain and fault-find systems across several of these office parks, and the job looks very different to a residential callout. A tripped inverter in a corporate building doesn’t just mean a dark passage — it can mean a server room running on unplanned backup power, or a landlord fielding calls from three different tenants. We work around business hours where we can, scheduling fault-finding and maintenance visits for early mornings or weekends when an office park needs zero disruption.
Because Century City’s buildings are managed to a consistent standard — body corporates, facilities managers, strict site access — our technicians are used to signing in, working to site rules, and reporting back with proper documentation rather than just a verbal “it’s sorted”. That matters when the person approving the invoice isn’t the person who uses the building every day.
Inverter rooms in Century City’s office parks are usually indoors and out of the weather, which means the faults we find here are less about corrosion and more about load: inverters undersized for a business that has grown, battery banks cycling harder than they were specified for, or DB boards wired for a much smaller office than the one now running off them. We check all of it as part of a proper fault-finding visit, not just the panels on the roof.
Solar Maintenance & Repairs In Milnerton
Milnerton is one of the oldest suburbs on Cape Town’s northern coast, established back in 1904 and sitting right on Table Bay, with Milnerton Lagoon, Woodbridge Island and the old lighthouse a short walk from most homes. Because it has been a settled residential area for so long, many of the solar systems we’re called out to here are older installs — some fitted five, six, seven years ago by companies that have since stopped answering the phone. Coastal wind and the cold Benguela current push salt-laden air off the bay day after day, and it ages exposed brackets, connectors and cabling faster than most homeowners expect, much the same way it does a little further up the coast in Bloubergstrand and Table View.
We fault-find these older systems properly rather than just resetting them and hoping: checking every roof penetration and mounting point for corrosion, testing connectors that have taken years of south-easter wind, and confirming the DB board and earthing were done to standard in the first place — not always a given on an installation from a decade ago. We also maintain systems for clients closer to Paarden Eiland’s industrial premises, where the same salt air is just as hard on exposed electrical work.
We Maintain What We Installed — And Fix What We Didn’t
Whether your solar was fitted by Thermo Group or by another installer entirely, we’ll take it on. A lot of our Century City and Milnerton callouts start the same way: a system that isn’t doing what it’s supposed to, an installer who has stopped responding, or simply the sense that nobody has actually checked the system since the day it went in. We inspect it properly, fault-find the real cause rather than the obvious one, and either fix it on the spot or give you a straight answer about what needs replacing — no pressure to sign up for anything bigger than the job in front of us.

My go to team from now on. My municipalty main supply in my dB desided to short to neutral and burn 22:00 on a Saturday evening, and the municipality breaker did not trip. It was fireworks inside my house, not a good sight or feeling. After phoning 10 different electrical companies stateing 24/7 on call, some even answering and saying they will only come the next day as it is late, Warwick had no hesitation to come through and assist. The house would have burned down if it was not for Warwick. He stayed the entire time to ensure the municipality shuts off the power to my house, worked on my dB till 03:00 in the morning to ensure we can power up safely again and wanted to still clean where he worked. Great service, great work ethics, great quality standards. Thanks again.Posted on Google![]()

Do you service commercial solar systems in Century City?
Yes. We maintain and fault-find rooftop and carport-mounted commercial solar systems across Century City’s office parks and business units, including inverter rooms, battery installations and DB board work, and we can schedule visits outside normal business hours to avoid disrupting your operations.
My solar system in Milnerton wasn’t installed by Thermo Group. Can you still help?
Yes. We regularly inspect and repair systems installed by other companies. Our technicians will assess the panels, mounting, wiring, inverter and DB board, identify the actual fault, and give you an honest recommendation — repair, replace, or leave it as is.
How does coastal wind and salt air affect solar systems in Milnerton?
Milnerton sits directly on Table Bay, and the wind and salt spray coming off the water accelerate corrosion on roof brackets, connectors and exposed cabling. Systems here need more frequent connection checks than inland suburbs, especially on installations more than a few years old.
What’s different about maintaining solar in a Century City office park compared to a home?
Commercial systems are usually larger, sized for higher daytime loads, and installed on flat roofs or carports with indoor inverter rooms. Faults are more often about load and wiring than weather damage, and we work around business hours and site access rules that don’t apply to a residential callout.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance plans for Century City and Milnerton?
Yes, we offer scheduled maintenance for both commercial and residential clients in the area, so your system is checked before small issues become expensive ones, rather than waiting for something to fail.
